About College –
The college has been distinct in that is serving students coming for higher education from the rural and interior areas and under privileged sections of the society to a larger extent. It established in 1970 with two under graduate course in Arts (B. A.) and Commerce (B. Com.). Now, it provides education in Business Administration (BBA) and Computer Application (BCA) at under-graduate level on self-finance basis. From the year 2018-19, we started, another under-graduated course in Science (B. Sc.) and one post-graduate course in Commerce (M. Com.) on a non-grant basis. All the courses are affiliated to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Apart from that, we offered three Career Orientated Courses (COCs) viz. Foundation Course in Human Right Education, Certificate course in E-banking and Certificate course in Communicative English to our regular students, these COCs are funded by the University Grant Commission under XIIth Plan.
The college has six departments (Marathi, Hindi, English, Economics, History and Geography) in Arts faculty with provision for instruction in Political science, Sociology and Physical Education as optional subjects in the B. A. Part I and B. A. Part II. Under Commerce, its three year integrated courses are in Advanced Accountancy and Industrial Management.
The total strength of the Degree courses is 961 and success rate in academic and extra-curricular activity is very high. The teaching faculty is highly competent. Our four faculty members awarded with both Ph. D. and M. Phil. degree, six faculty members awarded with Ph. D. degree, two faculty members awarded with M. Phil degree, and our two faculty members are doing Ph. D. in their respective subjects.
